Bandipora : The District Magistrate Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Monday reviewed the performance of the Prosecution Department.
On the occasion, officers informed the chair that there are 418 cases regarding heinous crimes like Murder, Rape, POCSO, NDPS Act, etc. pending in Bandipora out of which record number of 182 cases were disposed off till date.
The DM said the Department of Prosecution is vital for deliverance of justice to aggrieved persons. He urged the Police and prosecution department to work in close coordination to ensure justice is delivered. He said the foolproof investigation and the strong advocacy in court will ensure justice is delivered.
DM also insisted for speedy disposal of old cases while adhering to procedure.
Dr. Owais said the biggest hurdle in the timely deliverance of justice is the faulty investigation. He said the loopholes left in the investigation by the concerned Investigating Officers take a toll on the deliverance of justice as these things help a criminal to go scot-free.
The meeting also reviewed the infrastructural issues with regard to the department. It was given out that two Kanals of land for prosecution headquarters have been identified at Kaloosa and a file has been sent to Director General Prosecution for further action.
Accommodation for the department in Gurez and Sumbal was also discussed in the meeting. The DC assured every possible help to the department to augment their infrastructural needs.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir; Deputy Director Prosecution for Bandipora and Ganderbal Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar; Additional Superintendent of Police Ashiq Tak; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora Parvaiz Rahim; Public Prosecutor Bandipora District Court Abdul Majeed Bhat; APP CJM Bandipora Ab Rashid Mir; APP Gurez Bilal Ahmad Khan, APP Sumbal Bilal Ahmad Lone; Senior Prosecution Officer Mir Junaid, Revenue and Legal officers.
