Divisional level Kala Utsav Competition concludes at teacher Bhawan Jammu

Jammu : Divisional level Kala Utsav 2021 organised by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ), a competition in which the winners of district level competitions participated in nine different art forms – Vocal Music (Classical Hindustani / Karnataka),Vocal Music (any traditional folk),Instrumental Music (Classical Hindustani / Karnataka), Instrumental music (any traditional folk), Dance (any classical),Dance (traditional dance of any state), Visual art (drawing, painting),Visual art (sculpture),Traditional Toys and Games, culminated here Thursday at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar.
A total 65 students showcase their talent in the mega event and the winners will now compete at J&K level in their respective categories with a chance to participate in the National Level Competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu, chief guest of the event, said that the talent of children needs to be exhibited and appreciated and Kala Utsav was one such platform. India has a long tradition of promoting art, culture, artistic practices and that of using such finer arts in the process of learning. These traditions narate the creative expansion from the individual to the community, which contributes towards the overall development of the society, he added.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma lauded the efforts of the mentors in guiding the competing students and bringing the best out of them. He appreciated the commitment and zeal of the Cultural Ambassadors of Directorate, various districts and zones who brought to life the performances of the students from the remotest corners of Jammu division.
A special mention was made by him about the members of the Culture and Education Cell( DSEJ) and other officials who worked tirelessly to make the event a grand success and an enriching experience for the students.
Congratulating the students for the vast amount of creativity and talent put at display by them, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma reminded everyone about the importance of finer arts and the role they play in the all round development of heart, body, mind and soul. These art forms kindle the spiritual elements within oneself and connect one to his soul.
He advised the students to take advantage of the avenues being provided to them by the Directorate of School Education Jammu and fine tune their talent exploring various fields of interest.
Information Technology and various social media platforms of trust have brought a sea of easily accessible knowledge based content to one’s finger tips and students should take benefit of this facility. Teachers should facilitate in providing the right direction and help the students in adapting to the technological developments, he added.
The event was organised by the Cultural and Academic Cell of the Directorate of School Education Jammu.
