DC Srinagar conducts extensive tour of Dara, Fakir Gujri, Mulnar, other far-flung areas

Srinagar: The District Development Commissioner(DDC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday undertook an extensive tour of various hilly and far-flug areas of the district to assess the actual requirements for development of Model Villages sanctioned by Tribal Affairs department for Fakir Gujri, Mulnar and Dara Panchayats under Public outreach programme.
The DDC visited Government Middle School Mulnar and took stock of the measures to be taken for upgrading the school as Model School under Tribal Model Villages scheme.
The DDC directed the concerned Engineers to submit a DPR within 5 days for infrastructure upgradation of the school besides construction of additional accommodation so that students of the locality are provided quality education with modern infrastructure.
While inspecting Primary Health Centre at Dara, the DDC directed the officers to prepare an immediate project report for reconstruction of the Health Centre to upgrade it to Model Primary Health Centre to ensure better patient care and health services are extended to the local population.
He also visited Government Boys High School Dara and passed directions for immediate construction of boundary wall, wash rooms and levelling of the School premises. He also instructed for the face-lifting of the school building which is already designated as Model High School.
Later, the DDC visited Astan Marg Dara and inspected the ongoing developmental works being carried out for construction of Model PlayGround. At the site, the DDC made an announcement of providing an additional Rs.10 Lakh for the playground to make it a Model Playground.
The DDC asked the concerned executing agency to expedite the work and complete the work by the end of January 2022 so that youth of the area are provided better sports infrastructure to exhibit their talent.
On the demand of local PRI members and people, the DDC also directed for submitting a DPR for construction of Community Facilitation Center and Public Park at Astan Marg, Dara for the convenience of the local population.
On the occasion, the DDC also met several public deputations and PRI delegations and received first-hand appraisal of the requirements to be incorporated under Tribal Model Villages of Fakir Gujri, Mulnar and Dara Panchayats.
The DDC along with the accompanied officers highlighted the initiatives being taken for the development of local habitations in different sectors like Education, Health, Agriculture, Handicraft, Handloom, Horticulture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry besides, PDD, PHE R&B & RDD.
While addressing the gathering present on the occasion, the DDC said that all out efforts are being made for welfare and development of the Tribal Population in the district. He said focused attention is being given for socio-economic upliftment of the Tribal Population and several Government schemes have been rolled out for unemployed youth for setting up of income generating units so that they earn their dignified livelihood.
The DDC directed the officers of Handicraft and Handloom Department to establish Pashmina Spinning Centers at Fakir Gujri, Mulnar and Dara. While Chief Horticulture Officer was asked to take measures for development of Cherry Village in the area. He also stressed on expanding Agriculture activities by cultivation of Mashroom produce and beehives to increase the income of local people under Model Tribal Village programme.
During the visit, the DDC was accompanied by members of District Development Council and other PRI representatives besides, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Director Handicrafts, Chief Horticulture Officer, Tehsildar North, Block Medical Officer, Executive Engineer R&B CD-1st Srinagar, HOD SPM GMC Srinagar, District Panchayat Office, BDO Harwan and other concerned officers.
