Distt Red Cross Societies should have more vibrancy: Div Com (J)

DCs asked to organize spl training camps for Red Cross volunteers

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today reviewed the functioning of Red Cross Societies in districts of the Division here at a video conferencing meeting with Deputy Commissioners and concerned officers.
The Div Com, who is also the chairman of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu region, reviewed in detail various issues pertaining to District Red Cross Societies like appointment of Executive Secretaries in districts, construction of Red Cross Bhawans, constitution of district Executive Committees, First Aid training, fund position etc.
The Div Com instructed the Deputy Commissioners to constitute Executive Committees and also appoint Executive Secretary in their respective districts for overall coordination and management of Red Cross Societies.
Regarding construction of Red Cross Bhawans in the districts, Dr Langer directed the Secretary IRCS to get a model estimate of the Bhawan formulated by the PWD department and share the same with each district so that uniformity can be maintained. He also directed DCs to identify suitable land for construction of Red Cross Bhawans in the districts and send proposals for the requirement of funds for its construction.
The Div Com asked DCs to organise an orientation program (training) for doctors and paramedical staff, who will further provide first aid training to Red Cross volunteers in each district.
While reviewing fund position in the districts, the Div Com instructed the concerned DCs to keep Red Cross fund and challan amount of covid appropriate behaviour separate.
The DCs were also told to send the names of 5 beneficiaries for distribution of sewing machines among the destitute and poor women.
The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners to organise special training camps for volunteers in the districts, who will further work as first responders in case of any disaster, eventuality.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Indian Red Cross Society Jammu region, Vinod Malhotra; District Social Welfare Officer, Ajay Salan; Additional Commissioner Jammu, Assistant Commissioner General Jammu while Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
