DDC Budgam reviews Mumkin, Tejaswani, SAHAYTA schemes

Says “schemes have vast potential to generate employment”

Budgam: Involve youth at the grass roots level, they can emerge as good ambassadors of communication between administration and common people, said the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza adding, “Our motive and priority shall be to develop confidence in them, utilize their talent and the ambitions to develop a society on high socio economic parameters”.
The DC made these remarks while chairing a meeting of officers convened here to review the schemes relating to Mission Youth particularly Mumkin, Tejaswani, SAHAYTA and other youth related schemes.
Earlier, the Assistant Director Employment Budgam, Rafiq Ahmed Bhat through a power point presentation in detail provided the till date achievements and status relating to these schemes. He said schemes presently launched and in operation have the capacity and potential to prove pivotal, hand hold youth and make transformation as financial assistance is provided to youth in distress.
He said under the MUMKIN scheme till date 226 different kinds of vehicles have been distributed, some are under progress as 249 applications have been received. He said they are raising awareness across the district in collaboration with other concerned departments to involve more and more unemployed youth towards this good employment generating scheme.
Similarly with regard to Tejaswani scheme, he said it has the scope to empower women by providing financial assistance for setting up employment ventures.
He said these schemes can provide financial assistance up to Rs. 5 lacs as Mudra loan and has subsidy component as well as interest free repayment criteria. He said women of age of 18 to 35 years registered with Mission Youth having qualification of 10th standard or above can apply for this scheme. He said till date they have disbursed 17 cases out of 31 applications received.
The Assistant Director further revealed that under SAHAYTA scheme, any person between the age of 18 to 40 years who has lost next of kin or family member in insurgency or having 50 percent disability or above suffered by victim which is of permanent nature will be given financial assistance up to Rs. 2 lacs.
He also apprised the meeting that for the convenience of youth, District Employment and Counseling Centre Budgam has introduced various information and other details available on their official website and massive publicity is carried on various social media platforms.
Speaking in the meeting, the DDC directed ADC, SDMs and all BDOs to pace up the process of establishing youth clubs, do weekly interactions with them, involve them in friendly activities and work undertaken by administration in their respective areas. He said BDOs will provide all logistics and other requisite support in facilitating the creation of more and more youth clubs under mission mode initiative.
He further added that a good chunk of people still do not know about the government schemes, however such Youth clubs will provide pivotal push in disseminating information.
The DDC said in addition all SDMs shall identify and recommend Three best Youth Clubs who shall be rewarded with a cash prize of up to Rs. 50,000 subject to demonstrating commendable performances.
