Srinagar/Oct, 31: Director General Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh on Sunday reiterated that people in Jammu and Kashmir want to live in peace and outrightly condemn any kind of violence whatsoever.
“Some incidents of violence did take place recently but were vehemently condemned by the people”, the DGP said on the sidelines of “Run for Unity” race organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Armed police in Srinagar.
He said the situation at present is fine and that is evident with the participation of a large scale of people from all walks of life and age running for the unity and integrity of the country. “The participation of the children, young and old persons in the unity run describes that they want to live in peace and tranquility, ‘ he said and added, ‘ people have condemned any kind of violence completely and entirely”, the DGP said. He appealed the youth who have picked up guns to shun the path of violence and join the nation building streams. “They (the youth) are working against the wishes of their parents, society and the country, he said and added such acts are only giving pain to everyone even the misguided youth lose their lives in encounters with security forces”, he added
“I appeal the youth of valley to take books in your hands, read to make your future brighter instead of picking up stones, cartridges and guns that will only destroy your life” the DGP said. He said today we are also celebrating “National Day” with every citizen participating in the run for the prosperity and progress of the country .
He said 700 people from all walks of life and age participated in today’s run for unity event organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police at Boulevard road in Srinagar. He congratulated the winners and the people who participated in the run with dedication.
