DSEJ conducts mega cyber safety awareness Campaign in schools of Jammu division

Approximately 10,000 stakeholders sensitised

Jammu:To strengthen cyber security to prevent cybercrimes and to tackle its unforeseen challenges by synergizing the efforts of various stakeholders in a sustainable manner, Directorate of School Education Jammu conducted a fortnightly mega cyber safety campaign in Jammu Division.
The Ministry of Home Affairs implemented a scheme called the Indian Cyber Crime Co ordination Centre (14C) to deal with cybercrimes in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. 14C is also actively involved in developing an ecosystem for cyber security, capacity building, public awareness, etc so as to create a conducive atmosphere for trust based transactions and prevention of cybercrimes.
This campaign was carried out as per guidelines of 14C.
Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma laid emphasis on such awareness programmes on cyber security. He said that with the growing adoption of Digital platforms by Citizens of India, the rate of digital crimes is also increasing day by day. Since the internet is widely used by people in their lives, it is necessary to spread awareness among users for safe and secure use of these platforms/services accessible through the internet.
In this regard, Counselling Cell DSE) conducted a series of webinars for the stakeholders of the School Education Department on Cyber Awareness by National Experts/Resource Person.
Er. Vikas Razdan, Cyber security analyst and cyber warrior highlighted the challenges related to cyber-crimes; Meenu Padha, Member JUICCASH ( Jammu University Internal Complaint Committee against Sexual Harassment) created awareness on IT Laws; Mohammad Yasin Kitchloo, SSP( Security Wing) discussed Financial Frauds with the participants; Shoaib Dar, Founder and Director, Pl Jam Foundation enlightened upon Social Networks, while Chandani Agarwal, Cyber security Awareness coach discussed Cyber Hygiene and Digital Footprints with the participants.
Besides these, Counselling cell’s weekly programme “Aao Baat Karein” involving Faculty Counsellor Dr. Jyoti Malhotra and DCC Vipan Kumar Sharma and peer counsellors Sanchi Manhas and Rohit Kapai discussed about their intakes from these webinars.
A number of activities viz. Debates, slogan writing, elocution, poster-making, audio lectures, video lectures, skits etc. on cybercrimes were organised by different schools at their level by involving students.
Resource Person from American Indian Foundation also aided in the conduct of this campaign.
Moreover, faculty counsellors, teachers and students also participated in the quiz programme by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Government of India on cyber Hygiene Practices and certified as Cyber Hygiene Practitioner.
Dr. Romesh Sharma, Head Counselling Cell called this mega awareness programme a great success and said that protection of cyber rights is already being taken up by the counselling cell in its annual calendar as monthly activity. He also said that these awareness campaigns will continue through sensitized faculty counsellors.
Counsellor Shanti Saroop Sharma, Dr. Alka Sharma, Preeti Sharma and Bindu Kumari helped in the smooth conduct of the proceedings of these webinars. Sohail Wani DNO Doda helped in the development of Audio-visual material for this campaign. The virtual platform for these webinars was provided by Danish Aziz, Education Specialist, UNICEF India.
