Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s Chairman &Managing Director, RK Chhibber Wednesday felicitated Bank’s football team for pocketing yet another title to their credit. The latest addition to the trophy cabinet comes after Bank overpowered J&K Power Development Corporation (PDC) XI by 5-2 in the summit clash of the maiden edition of Positive Kashmir KO Football Tournament played at Synthetic Turf TRC Ground, Srinagar.
The felicitation ceremony held here at Bank’s Corporate Headquarters, was attended by top bank officials including Executive President, Presidents and Vice-Presidents besidesthe members of the winning team and support staff.
Calling Bank’s team as one of the premier sides in domestic football circuit, CMD congratulated them for delivering title winning performance. “You all have made us proud. Your talent and passion is unmatched which was on display in the finals by coming from a goal behind twice to win the trophy comprehensively in the end. Bank’s management will keep supporting and backing those who take pride in wearing bank’s logo on their sleeves,” he said.
Notably, the title decider proved to be humdinger for the first 45 minutes with teams going into the half-time break stalemated at 2-2 scoreline. The Bank side showed their character and collective calm scripting comeback twice in the first half after it conceded a goal early in the piece thanks to PDC’s Hayat. Lead, however, didn’t last long with Bank finding an equalizer through Adnan in the 10th minute. PDC went into lead again courtesy Immad goal, only to be pegged back by Bank’s star striker Aakif to have 2-2 scoreline at the end of first half.
Second half was all Bank with goals coming thick and fast for them, netting three of them to outclass PDC defence. The goal fest was started by Aakif who scored his second in the 55th minute before Faisal and Prem joined the party to complete the second half rout even as Bank walked away with yet another title.
Pertinently, the Bank had also lived upto its top drawer billing in earlier tournaments winning them quite commandingly.
The players and support staff alike expressed their gratitude to the CMD for his unwavering support, guidance and backing which, according to them, eggs them on to make it big in football arena and bring glory to the premier financial institution of J&K.
