Director NIT Srinagar hosts interaction meeting with MBA students, returned from Dubai Industrial tour

Srinagar: Director National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar Prof. (Dr) Sehgal on Monday held an interaction meeting with MBA 2020 batch students, who recently returned from an Industrial tour to Dubai.

The student delegation were on a 10-day tour to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) along with some faculty members from the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management NIT Srinagar.

While welcoming back student delegation at the campus, Prof. Sehgal said industrial tours are important for MBA students for getting first-hand experience of the market trends, research facilities, and other things across the globe.

“The experience goes beyond bookish concepts,” Prof. Sehgal said adding that students had visited various research facilities, innovation Centers and interacted with noted industry leaders in Dubai.

He said even NIT Srinagar students were hosted by the Consulate General of India in Dubai and other dignitaries, which is a proud moment for the institution.

Prof. Sehgal said such programs will be conducted in the future also and appreciated MBA Coordinator, Dr. Tahir Ahmad Wani, from the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management.

Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari said industrial tours are important for students. They provide them exposure to a new environment, culture, and people. “Industrial tours are part and parcel of modern education. They focus on more practical knowledge rather than theoretical,” he said.

Prof Bukhari said such tours will surely bring leadership qualities among students and explore them to more job opportunities over the course of time.

On the occasion, Dr. Wani, who was part of a delegation, informed Director NIT that students visited various research facilities, innovation Centers and interacted with various industry leaders in Dubai.

“The students visited Transworld in the Jebel Ali Free zone. Amity University Dubai, SAIF Free Zone in Sharjah, Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park, Carrefour Mall, and many other places,” he said.

Wani said delegation also met Mr. Suhail Gidwani, CEO of Nando’s, UAE, a famous South African multinational fast-food chain, Mr. Paras Shadadpuri’s, NIKAI Group of Companies – a diversified business group, Ras-Al-Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), Amarak Chemicals and historical buildings of Dubai.

The students also saw a 155 million year skeleton of an old dinosaur, Diplodocus longus which was discovered in a sleeping position at the Dana Quarry in Wyoming, Western United States.

NIT delegation also met Dr. Aman Puri, Consulate General of India in Dubai, Where, Mr. Puri spoke on the future of businesses in UAE, the role of Indians in the economy of the country, challenges faced by businesses, role of young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs in the accelerating growth of the country, etc.

“He felicitated the students of NIT Students for showing fervor and assured several opportunities to work in UAE,” Dr. Wani said.

During the tour, some of the entrepreneurs and students were invited to the IBPC conference at Taj, Dubai. It was IBPC that hosted the CII Delegation.

The delegation was able to connect with Indian entrepreneurs and officials who have successfully made a mark in the United Arab Emirates.

During the visit, Dr. Rahul Mirchandani introduced students to the dignitaries present in the conference giving each one of us equal attention and opportunity to connect to all the officials including Mr. Simarpreet, Chief Guest, Mr. Vinod Kumar

The delegation also visited the inaugural day of The Dubai Expo 2020, they explored different pavilions and interacting with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

They were welcomed by the India pavilion which was inaugurated by Mr. Piyush Goyal. After that students also visit several other pavilions including Germany, Indonesia, Monaco, Morocco, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Vietnam, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Japan, and the USA.
