He said the recent civilian killings of members of the minority committee a lesser number of local Kashmiri pundits and few Hindus turned for the pooja which was held in a cordial atmosphere in the temple. A good number of children also participated in the pooja.

“We did pooja in our homes during all these nine days and keep fast also for the peace to return to the Kashmir valley”, Chunni Lal said.

He said special prayers for the restoration of long lasting peace in the valley and return of the traditional “Kashmiri brotherhood” in which all sects of people were living peacefully should return soon, Lal added.

He said the big puja was supposed to be conducted at Ram Temple at Barbar Shah, but due to circumstances and recent incidents it was held at Durganag Temple at Sonawar.

He thanked the almighty all rituals of Mahanavami pooja were passed on peacefully.
