Anantnag: The J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (J&K KVIB) Wednesday organised a one day buyer-seller meet at Common Facility Centre of Martand Crewel and Chain Stitch Embroidery Cluster, Ranipora, Anantnag.
The event was attended by Atul Kumar, Secretary/CEO J&K KVIB, Rashid Ah. Qadri, Dy CEO, J&K KVIB, officials from district administration and a large number of participants, buyers and artisans from Anantnag and adjoining areas.
On the occasion, the artisans displayed a plethora of handmade items that were available for sale including pillow covers, wall hangings, etc.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary, J&K KVIB said that the aim of conducting such programs is to motivate the artisans for furthering local manufacturing of such products and to better their marketing prospects to make them attractive in local, national, and international markets.
He further informed the gathering that KVIB hopes that the Common Facility Centre will positively impact the artisans in the region.
Addressing local artisans, he encouraged them to ensure efficient operationalization of the installed machinery and utilize the infrastructure at the CFC to the best of their abilities. He also appealed to the locals to encourage beneficial utilization of the facility.
The Dy. CEO J&K KVIB informed the gathering that other than being provided all needed facilities under one roof, the artisans will also be provided marketing assistance and other forward linkages like sponsorship to national and international trade fairs and creation of online web portals to exhibit and sell their craft items.
The officials from KVIB assured the artisans and other stakeholders of all possible assistance and reiterated upon them to work in close coordination and ensure fruitful utilization of the CFC.
