Srinagar: The ‘Group of Concerned Citizens’ (GCC), a non-political civil society group comprising academicians, businessmen, advocates, scientists , former judges and civil servants has expressed deep anguish and shock over the recent spate of civilian killings in Kashmir.
GCC has also sought time- bound judicial probe in the barbaric murders of noted pharmacist M. L. Bindroo; cab driver, Mohammad Shafi; Principal of a government school, Ms. Supinder Kaur, a government teacher, Deepak Chand besides a civilian Parvez Ahmad who was shot dead by security forces at a check-point in Anantnag.
GCC has vehemently denounced the elements attempting to fish in troubled waters by creating a wedge between different communities living peacefully in the Valley.
“We strongly denounce the nefarious designs of certain vested interest groups to create panic through circulation of false and fabricated stories over social media thereby instigating the members of minority community to migrate. The Group has also taken note of the fake videos which have gone viral on social media about migration of people,” the GCC statement reads.
The Group has, meanwhile, assured its full support to efforts, made at any level, for creating and nurturing an atmosphere of amity between different communities living in the Valley.
“The GCC offers heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families and assures them full moral support,” the statement adds.
