Over 160 NIT Srinagar students got job offers during 2021-22 placement session

Last year 250 students were placed and over 135 companies visited the campus: Officials

Srinagar: Over 160 students of the National Institute of Srinagar (NIT) got job offers from 35 companies in the campus placement season of 2021-22, with an annual CTC (cost to the company) package of a minimum of 8.5 lac rupees per annum, officials said.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal extended his greetings to the students and stated that the institute is committed to serving society in all spheres.
“Despite covid19, the placements at the campus were done on a priority basis. Training and Placement Department played a vital role in placements during this session and also prepared students to get placed reputed companies,” he said.
Prof. Sehgal said campus placements provide students best opportunities, enabling them to start off their careers right after they had completed their course curriculum. NIT Srinagar will continue to get its students placed in well-reputed institutions across the globe, he said.
In his message, Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari stated that despite Covid19 challenges, more than 410 students have been placed in the past 1 and half years and it is a welcome step.
“NIT Srinagar will continue with an online placement season with more companies so that more students will be placed during the prevailing campus drives,” he said.
Head Training and Placement Officer and Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Obbu Chandra Sekhar said so far 160 students from NIT Srinagar have been placed from the present 7th-semester batch and still recruitment is going on.
He said the Covid-19 pandemic played spoilsport in the campus recruitment process last year after which most NIT’s chose to conduct the placement process online.
“Our department started in the mid of July 2021 and during the placement drive, 35 companies held virtual interviews with the students, and 160 students were placed so far with an annual CTC of 8.5 LPA. Still, placements are going for this batch on the campus,” Dr. Obbu Chandra said.
He said apart from these placements, in higher education of July passed out batch, around 50 students have joined for M.Tech, M. Sc, Ph.D. in reputed intuitions in India and abroad for higher studies.
Dr. Obbu Chandra informed that in 2020-21 sessions’ July pass out batch, despite Covid19 more than 250 students were placed and over135 companies conducted the interviews in virtual mode.
“Last year NIT Srinagar senate had approved six months internship and more than 45 students have utilized these opportunities. In the 8th semester, students are going for the internship program and during the same, they are getting salaries and later they get also recruited by PPO (Pre Placement Offers) the same companies, he said.
