Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested a bootlegger and recovered 11 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said that officers at a checkpoint established near P S Kakapora, intercepted a vehicle (Tipper) bearing registration number JK03-6535 driven by Tanveer Ahmad Mantoo son of Abdul Majid Mantoo resident of Kadlabal Pampore following which search officers recovered 11 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
Police in it’s statement also said the above named accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kakapora where he remains in custody, adding therein that vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
In the concluding para of its above referred statement police said case FIR No. 132/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Kakapora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Police has appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood, warning there in that people found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
