Labour Commissioner J&K sensitizes unorganized workers about E-Shram, PM-SYM schemes at Ramban , Udhampur

LC also presides over on-spot registration-cum-awareness camp

Ramban: Labour Department Ramban and Udhampur Thursday organized a one day on-spot registration-cum-awareness camp on the recently launched E-Shram registration portal by Government of India besides other welfare schemes being implemented for the upliftment of construction and other unorganized sector workers in the districts.
Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) scheme were also prominently discussed with the participants
At Ramban the camp was presided over by the Labour Commissioner, J&K, Abdul Rashid War besides Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Ramban Angrej Singh was also present on the occasion.
In his address, the Labour Commissioner acknowledged the efforts of the department to make construction workers financially empowered, for whom the department is meant, he also listened to the grievances of the public and assured them of speedy disposal.
The Labour Commissioner urged the people working in unorganized sectors to register themselves on E-Shram portal which will help the government in further planning. The workers from different categories including gig workers, taxi drivers, rickshaw pullers, cobblers, vegetable sellers/ hawkers, domestic and other workers are covered under this scheme, he added.
The Labour Commissioner, while interacting with the construction workers and labourers, advised them to avail maximum benefits from various government schemes meant for their welfare.
The Labour Commissioner also distributed E-Shram cards among the construction workers here.
Earlier the ALS apprised the audience about various schemes of the labour department. He urged the workers to register themselves online on www.jkbocw.gov.in with ALC office to get the benefits under J&K Building and other construction Workers Welfare Act and renew their existing labour cards due for renewal.
He also made the labourers aware about different labour laws besides the safety equipment they need to wear at vulnerable sites in order to stay safe.
Later the Labour Commissioner also attended awareness cum registration camp at Beapar Mandal, Near DC Office, Udhampur. The event was organized by Shri Pradyot Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Udhampur in collaboration with various Business Trade Organizations.
On the occasion threadbare discussion was held about various beneficiary schemes of government which are helpful for business community and its unorganized workers.
It was also impressed upon all the Business Trade Organizations to organize special camps/seminars and sensitize the unorganized workers about the registration on e-SHRAM portal and registration of PM-SYM and benefits thereof through installation of Banners, Flex Boards, posters etc. at the labour concentrated locations showing details about how to register, whom to register, benefits of registration, category of unorganized workers in a lucid manner.
The participants were apprised that the unorganized workers like construction workers, migrant workers, gig and platform workers, domestic workers, agricultural workers and other organized workers within the age limit of 16 to 59 can register themselves through Common Service Centres or can register themselves on www.eshram.gov.in. On spot free of cost registration of unorganized workers on eShram portal were provided on the occasion.
