Anantnag and chaired a meeting of officers to review implementation of NFCH scheme in the district.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, District Social Welfare Officer, Dr. Peerzada Farhat, officials of Social Welfare Department besides number of beneficiaries.
During the meeting, it was informed that under the scheme financial support is provided for education of the children who are victims of communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence.
It was also given out that in the district, Rs. 22.72 lakh stand disbursed among 123 students for their studies and 105 renewals shall get their scholarship amount in near future.
Further, DSWO informed that 20 fresh cases have been identified and forwarded to NFCH for approval.
Secretary appreciated the performance of the district administration and asked the DSWO to conduct survey and identify the eligible children to ensure their enrollment in the schemes besides extending them proper guidance and handholding.
Pant called for proper felicitation of the beneficiary children pursuing education in different courses so that they are presented as role models and ambassadors of communal harmony at the national level.
Secretary said the Foundation organizes regular programmes for these children in different states and national capital for their career counselling and skill development. “Such programmes give a chance to beneficiaries to meet top dignitaries including President, Vice President, Prime Minister and interact with children of different areas of the country”, he added.
Later, Pant interacted with the beneficiaries and sought their feedback for proper implementation of the programme.
DC assured that the district administration will take concrete steps for improving the skill level of these children by jointly involving Higher, School and Technical Education Departments.
On the occasion, the beneficiaries shared their experiences with the Foundation during the programme and gave valuable suggestions for better implementation of the scheme.
