JKCCA to Felicitate Six Young Artists

Jammu: A meeting of the excutive body of Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Pt Kewal K Sharma, Pesident, JKCCA Thursday. The office bearers, members and special invitees D P Abrol, Vice- President, Sahil Bhardwaj, General Secretary, O P Sharma, Director, Amit Magotra, Ravi Kumar, Radhey Shyam, Bimal Magotra, Ashok Mehra and Anil Saraf as members attended the meeting. It was decided that JKCCA will felictate six young artists of the country to recognise their contribution in the field of visual arts. The artists who are to be honoured include Masood Tabish Naqishbandi, Srinagar (J&K), Jasleen Singh and Amrit Kaur, Jammu (J&K), Pratima Singh, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Gaytri, Hoshiarpur (Punjab) and Deepa Soni, Udhampur (J&K). It was decided that that this felicitation event, initiated this year, would be an annual feature of the organization. O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA informed that all these artists are actively involved in contributing in art and culture activities and are displaying their talent at state, national and international levels. He informed that Jasleen Singh, a sculptor, is a Post Graduate from M S University, Baroda, qualified NET, recipient of National Culture Scholarship and Junior Fellowship from Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, and has participated in international sculpture symposium in Egypt. Amrit Kaur has done Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Institute of Fine Arts, Jammu and has done a Course in Animation. She is the recipient of State Award by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages and others. Masood Tabish Naqishbandi and Gaytri, painters, Pratima Singh and Deepa Soni, self taught painters have participated in state, national and international art events and have been awarded at state and national levels. It may be mentioned here that JKCCA is the NGO that integrates itself with the functions of visual arts, literature and performing arts. JKCCA has organized Group Art Exhibitions at different art centres like at New Delhi, Amritsar, Lucknow, Goa, Jammu, Dehradun and other places in the country.
