Pulwama: Principal Secretary, Skill Development, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Thursday had an extensive tour of Pulwama district and inspected functioning of ITIs Pampore and Pulwama besides Polytechnic College Pampore.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Chowdhary and other concerned officers were present on occasion.
During his visit to ITI Pampore and Pulwama, Principal Secretary addressed pass outs and trainees and highlighted the importance of skill development in present day world of caliber and competence.
He stressed the need for new short term job oriented courses so that the unemployed youth could get job opportunity within J&K. He directed for encouragement of Self Help Groups and asked the district administration for providing necessary support in this regard.
Samoon enquired from the pass out ITI students regarding their placement and was requested by the female pass out students to allow them work voluntarily in educationally backward far flung areas besides providing cutting and tailoring training to youth there.
He directed the concerned officers to get these pass outs registered with Youth Mission so that they can render their services in their respective areas.
He urged upon the unemployed youth to come forward and take advantage of newly introduced short term courses in different trades and make themselves equipped with latest modern skills, adding that both Government as well as private sector prefer skilled manpower.
