NIT Srinagar’s social start-up Move Beyond hosts webinar for NEET aspirants

Srinagar: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar’s social start-up Move Beyond -A Career Counselling School, of Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IIED) hosted a special webinar for NEET aspirants, which was attended by 1300 aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof Rakesh Sehgal appreciated the organizers for initiating such ideas for the guidance of aspirants. Such programs are need of the hour and NIT will continue to hold such programs in future also, he said.
Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari said Move Beyond has conducted a webinar for NEET aspirants. These sessions are the need of the hour and will explore more in-depth knowledge to the participants, he said.
Founder of the start-up Move Beyond, Sheikh Inayat-Ullah said around 1300 NEET aspirants attended the workshop and it was a successful program.
“There are a number of students in J&K who opt for medicine as their career. So, it is important for them to understand the medical infrastructure and industrial setup of the world,” Shiekh Inayat-Ullah said.
“The decision is only wise if is taken after due consideration of the facts. It is only after proper sensitization and counseling is that student is sufficiently empowered to take a rational decision about his or her career,” he said.
Quoting a survey by Wheebox, a talent assessment company for India Skills Report 2018, Sheikh Inayat Ullah said nearly 85% of candidates were not equipped to take career decisions.
“While 2018 Annual International Career and College Counseling (IC3) Conference also acknowledged that India’s 350 million students, which is the biggest student population in the world will need at least 1.4 million career counselors,” he said.
Sheikh Inayat Ullah informed that Move Beyond has been conducting career awareness camps and workshops since 2015 and working with IIEDC of NIT Srinagar as a startup since 2018.
“The startup has engaged with policymakers, administration, scholars, economists, sociologists, psychologists, educationists, et cetera for addressing the issue of career counseling and guidance in J&K,” he said.
Sheikh Inayat Ullah further said there is a lack of right counseling infrastructure not only in J&K but entire country, which is a primary reason for the issues of unemployment, underemployment, and un-employability.
“So far, around 20,000 students had counseled by startup through various career counseling camps and webinars. It has also placed students globally in different colleges and companies particularly Germany, Gulf, Australia, and USA,” he said.
Sheikh Inayat Ullah said awareness workshop on Fulbright Fellowships, Webinar on Start-up Ecosystem in J&K, Online Career Summit Part 1 and Part 2 Conference on Fashion Designing and Online Boutique Trends in J&K, Opportunities in Germany, Asia’s Largest Career Counseling Meet-2021, etc are few of the awareness initiatives taken by the start-up so far.
Dr. Shabir Hassan, from Harvard University, Prof Nisar Ali, Economist of repute and formerly Adviser to J&K Govt., Higher Education Department, Dr. Javed Wani, Director, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Srinagar, Zubair Kirmani, Founder Bonipun, Sandeep Choudhary IPS, SSP Srinagar, Irfti Lone, Head Business Incubation EDI, Dr. Sangitha Ladha, Director Rivulis Irrigation, India, et cetera have been among the counselors in the awareness sessions organized by the Start-up Move Beyond.
Among the dignitaries, Honorable Vice-Chancellors of Central University Kashmir and Jammu, Prof Mehraj ud din and Prof Ashok Aima, Prof Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges, and Prof Saad Parvez, Head IIEDC, NIT Srinagar have attended the different awareness sessions of the startup Move Beyond.
Prof. Nisar Ali, Economist and Chief Consultant to Move Beyond said youth in the region comprising a huge human capital, most of it without a degree of serviceability and employability under the present global economic order.
“We are working at creating opportunity data bank, employability index, skill the formation, entrepreneurship development, hand-on training, placements at global level to enable engagement of youth in development pursuits to arrive at a higher value of human development index in the region,” he said.
The startup Move Beyond- A Career Counseling School is in the missionary mode to establish a scientific and outcome-oriented counseling infrastructure in J&K so as to reach out the youth, understand their socioeconomic issues and status, and accordingly advises for career development and growth.
It has also made a model for youth outreach and employability which was presented to Honorable Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on his recent visit to NIT Srinagar.
LG Sinha appreciated the efforts of the start-up and passed immediate instructions for assistance and support to the startup Move Beyond.
The Move-beyond has networked with many institutions and experts on a global scale for deep R&D and utilizing their expertise and resources for the benefit of the student community in J&K.
It has also entered into an MoU with IIEDC, NIT Srinagar for facilitating the process of youth reach-out and employability in J&K. The Directorate of School Education Kashmir, Department of Higher Education, Mission Youth JK, Private School Education, Universities of J&K, etc cetera have also been approached and made part this initiative by start-up Move Beyond and they have been quite helpful and supportive in it.
The process of reach-out and helping students in their career have been given a shape of program and is titled International Youth Outreach and Employability Program (IYOEP) with Director NIT Srinagar Prof Rakesh Sehgal as Chief Patron, Head IIEDC, NIT Srinagar Prof Saad Parvez as Patron, Prof Nisar Ali, Economist of repute as Chief Consultant, and Founder / Director Start-up Move Beyond, Sheikh Inayat Ullah as Program Director.
