Set up Women’s Degree College at Bandipora: J&KSA to LG

Srinagar: J&K Students Association on Tuesday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to establish Women’s Degree College in Bandipora here in north Kashmir.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), National Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami said Bandipora, which is known for Alim (knowledge) Adab (Habits and literature) and Aab (water) has been unfortunately neglected by successive governments educationally.
Justifying necessity of the demand, Khuehami said that, female students of Bandipora have to either go for Srinagar or Barmulla for further studies as result of which large number of students give up their studies after passing their 12th class.
He said the female students from Ajas, Gamroo, Aragam, Papachan, Nadihal, and other adjoining areas have to travel all along to Srinagar for higher education after class 12th as it takes less time to reach Srinagar than to GDC Bandipora, which is inaccessible.
The students of these areas can pursue their further studies if college is made available in Bandipora, the statement said.
He said that despite being an educationally uncovered zone, the area is producing competent teachers, professors and lecturers in different fields who wholeheartedly are doing a great job in the education sector.
Reiterating his demand for establishing the college for women in Bandipora, he urged the Lieutenant Governor to fulfill the long pending demand of the people of Bandipora at an earliest, so that like other parts of the state, female students get their separate college in Bandipora and the girl students could bring a sigh of relief
