Govt will not hesitate in dealing sternly with anti national elements, LG

Srinagar: Asserting that government will not hesitate in dealing sternly with all those involved in Anti National Activities (ANA), Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said the time is over when attempts were being made to disturb peace.
“No one will be allowed to harm the country’s unity, integrity and sovereignty” Mr Sinha said adding the government will not hesitate in dealing sternly with those creating hurdles in the path of peace in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at “Pedal For Peace” event organised by J&K Police here, Mr Sinha said the youth who participated are the epitome of the power of that change and with the efforts of J&K Police, they are becoming champions not only in sports but in the life too.
About 1000 youth from different areas in all age groups participated in different categories of the event as part of “ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav”.
He said the time is over when attempts were made disturb peace and now the administration works with the sole aim of establishing peace in the UT.
He said we want peace and brotherhood and we will not hesitate in dealing sternly with those involved in anti-national activities or those creating hurdles in the path of peace.
He said there has been huge change in the policy of the administration as situation in the J&K too has changed. He said there was a time when attempts were being made to buy peace. But, he said now I think, that time is over and everyone should understand that this administration works on the sole aim of establishing peace and both the civil administration as well as the police are working together on this policy. He said this is a huge difference that has happened in the recent past.
Lauding the police for safeguarding the peace and sovereignty of the nation despite facing difficulties, Lt Governor thank police personnel for sacrifices and for being alert to maintain the internal security. Mr Sinha said important milestones, educational institutions and roads will be named in the J&K after those personnel of police or other security agencies who have made supreme sacrifice for the nation. The committee appointed for this purpose has made a decision and the process will commence from September 30, he said adding there cannot be a much better way to honour the sacrifices of those people who have given their blood for the country. Many people have sacrificed their lives and I assure that the government will take care of the health, education and basic facilities of their families and children,” he announced.
Mr Sinha appealed to the youth to desist from drugs and channelize their energy into something good for themselves, their families, society and J&K.
”We are spending double the amount that is being spent on sports in the country’s largest state of Uttar Pradesh (UP)”, he said adding our budget, for 1.25 crore population, on sports and education is only Rs 75 crore less than Maharashtra whose population is 12 crore.
So, he said, we are spending more on sports and education than other states. Our sports infrastructure is behind none. We have a stadium and an indoor stadium in every district and for that I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Sports can unite people, create hope for a better tomorrow and a brighter future. The youth are the builders of the new Jammu & Kashmir. They have to contribute diligently towards building a developed society, to encourage others to perform their duties & maintain harmony among all sections of society, he said.
He said the UT administration is providing the talented youth countless opportunities to engage in creative & constructive activities, to channelize their energies and to promote team spirit & character building through the programs of Sports Council, Mission Youth & JK Police.
Referring to the spike in COVID-19 cases in Srinagar, Mr Sinha appealed to the people to follow guidelines and get vaccinated.
He said we see 50 per cent of the total COVID-19 positive cases are coming from Srinagar in the J&K.
The people of Srinagar are requested to follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs in spirit, he said adding otherwise we will go back to where we were last year.
