Poshan Maah celebration : Demonstration cum Promotion of Nutri Garden organised at block Ghagwal

Ghagwal : In continuation to its spate of activities to be held during Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2021, ICDS Project Ghagwal organized demonstration cum promotion of Nutri Gardens at Anganwari Centres, here Saturday.
Dr. Neerja Sharma, Scientist Horticulture, Krishi Vikas Kendra, Samba was the chief speaker on the occasion.
Programme was attended by Anganwari Workers to learn about setting, maintenance, economic management and advantages of Nutri Garden or Poshan Vatikas.
Pertinently, Poshan Maah is being celebrated under the aegis of Poshan Abhiyaan – a Jan Andolan for removing malnutrition from society by proactive approach of identifying malnourished children and then fortifying their nutrition uptake to bring them to health states.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neerja Sharma, emphasized the importance of Nutri Garden. She said that vegetables and fruits being grown in these AWCs will fulfil the micronutrient requirements of beneficiaries. Setting up Kitchen gardens has the advantage of availability of cheap vegetables and fruits. It is also a source of income generation and the setting up of Kitchen Garden in Anganwari Centres will be a prototype to be replicated by other households in the village.
Agriculture Extension Officer, Rajpura demonstrated the different method of seeding namely broadcasting method and single line method.
A similar event was held in Ghagwal Panchayat and Chhan Khaterian Panchayat to train Anganwari Workers of ICDS Project Ghagwal.
