Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Tuesday briefed media about the covid situation in the district and appealed the people to continue to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and stressed for 100 percent vaccination in 18-45 age group population of the District.
The DC said that the Covid-19 situation is improving gradually with improvement in recovery rate owing to extensive testing in containment zones and vaccination drives launched at a large scale in the district.
He said till date the district administration has administered 2.24 lac doses including 1.78 lac first doses ad 45 thousand 2nd doses. He said 100 percent 45 plus population has been vaccinated while 60 percent 18 plus population has also been vaccinated so far. He appealed left out population to get vaccinated at earliest.
Dr Owais said the recovery rate has been 98.6 percent in the district while the positivity rate has also been stabilized from past few weeks. He said no new cluster has been formed while the new cases are being detected in scattered areas. However, he said the sporadic cases at certain places implies that we still need to be careful and any leniency will lead to an increase in covid cases.
He said that there is further decrease in positive cases with 33 active positive cases as on date and added that the downfall of the cases is due to strict containment measures including extensive sampling and subsequent vaccination drive at a large scale.
The DC said the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further. He appealed people to stay away from crowds and use face masks besides ensuring proper personal hygiene and hygiene at home and surroundings.
He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators.
