Notorious robber arrested in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar: : Police in Srinagar on Tuesday said that it has arrested a notorious robber involved in several crime cases.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday police said Police Station Khanyar on last Saturday received a written complaint from one person namely Santosh Kumar Singh son of Ram Prakash Singh resident of Purnima Shiv Mandir Southwest Delhi who stated therein that near victory crossing Khanyar an unknown person driving car bearing registration number GA03-3531 forced him to withdraw ₹4000 from ATM located at JLNM Hospital Rainawari and also took away his cash amount of ₹5000.
Stating that during the course of investigation, officers using modern techniques including analysis of CCTV footages were able to identify accused person involved in the commission of crime identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohammed Dar resident of Bagh-e-Mehtab Srinagar, police said ‘after strenuous efforts, the accused person was arrested near Khayam Chowk, Srinagar and during the further course of investigation, it came to know that the accused arrested person is also involved in several cases including case FIR No. 70/2021 of Police Station Khanyar, case FIR No.33/2021 of Police Station Nowhatta, case FIR No. 69/2021 of Police Station MR Gunj and case FIR No. 178/2021 of Police Station Safakadal.
During questioning it also came to know that the accused person used to steal vehicles and then use the same for robbing truckers and taxi drivers during the wee hours by threatening them with knife, police in it’s statement further said that he has also stolen 04 vehicles, 01 motorcycle, extorted cash amount of Rs 55,400 and 04 mobile phones during the past few days.
In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement police also said that a case vide FIR No. 69/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khanyar and investigation was underway.
