Riyaz Beigh chairs review meeting with the officials of UMEED

Srinagar:: After assuming the charge of Additional Mission Director (AMD), Rural Livelihoods Mission Kashmir, Riyaz Ahmad Beigh Thursday conducted a review meeting with the officials of UMEED and reviewed the performance of the programme across the Kashmir Division.
While interacting with the officials, The AMD directed the officials to work in Mission mode and achieve the set targets on time. He further said that the Umeed project is aimed at providing better livelihoods, facilities to the women especially living in rural areas.
He stressed on making extra efforts in making the programme successful so that the unprivileged sections of the society are benefited under the programme.
Beigh exhorted the officials to provide a responsive administration to the people, based on the principles of professionalism and dedication so that the visible impact is seen on the ground.
Various indicators related to livelihoods were also discussed during the meeting for focused implementation of schemes in the division.
The AMD impressed upon the officials to facilitate opening of savings bank accounts for every SHG member. He directed the officials to cover all the SHG members under Social Security Scheme like PMSBY, PMJJBY so that their health and life remains insured for their families.
The meeting also held threadbare discussion on Annual Action plan, Convergence with the line departments, SHG Targets and other related matters.
While informing the chair about the progress made by the division, it was informed that till July 2021, 2, 53,665 rural women have been federated into 28,185 SHGs, in Kashmir Division. It was also given out that the SHGs members have been encouraged to invest and enhance their existing livelihoods and the Mission has linked the SHG members with various schemes and financial institutions for enhanced benefits.
The AMD was also briefed about the Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP) and Start up Entrepreneurship Scheme (SVEP), sub schemes under NRLM being implemented in the Kashmir Division.
The meeting was attended by State Project Managers, District Project Managers, Block Programme Managers, Coordinators farm and Non-farm and other officials of the Mission.
