Srinagar: A boy from Hajin Bandipora has won the gold medal in a 11th district Taekwondo championship held in Srinagar at Doon international School HMT Srinagar.
Basit Farooq 21, an ace player of Khelo India Taekwondo Academy Kashmir has performed exceptionally well and to fetch the first position defeating Power Punch Taekwondo Academy by thin margin and bagged gold medal for his team.
While talking to Kashmir Horizon, Basit Farooq Said that it is great achievement for him and his team and I dedicated this gold medal to my coach Afreen Haider who taught him Taekwondo.
He further added that he has learnt a lot from her and she is guiding him in professional manner. Whenever he need a help she never hesitates in helping him in .“It is because of her coaching I have achieved this feet and in future I will try to win more gold medals.”
Gettting emotional he added “ I am very thankful to Almighty Allah for this win and also my parents who are supporting me equally ,it is because of their constant support I have been able to achieve this feet.”
Basit, who started learning taekwondo in 2015 and participated in the two times all India inter university championship ,Mahrastra state Taekwondo championship in which he had won gold medal; besides this he has alao won seven gold medals in District Taekwondo championship last year & has been thr captain of Khelo India Mallkhamb team.
