Srinagar: The former chief ministers of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State and leaders of mainstream parties including Syed Altaf Bukhari Sajad Gani Lone and Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Thursday condemned the killing of Apni Party worker, who was shot dead Thursday in Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
National Conference (NC) Vice president, Omar Abdullah in a tweet said that this renewed trend of targeting mainstream politicians by militant outfits is very worrying.“Very sorry to hear about the assassination of Ghulam Hassan Lone in Devsar area of South Kashmir. This renewed trend of targeting mainstream politicians by militant outfits is very worrying & I condemn the same in the strongest possible terms. May Allah grant the departed Jannat,” Omar tweeted.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief, Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said that there seems to be no end to the spree of political killings in Kashmir “Unfortunately there seems to be no end to the spree of political killings in Kashmir. Unreservedly condemn the killing of Apni party leader Ghulam Hassan Lone. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” Mehbooba tweeted.
Apni Party President Syed Altaf Bukhari expressed profound grief over the barbaric killing of Apni Party’s prominent worker Ghulam Hassan Lone who was shot dead in Devsar-Kulgam. In a statement issued on Thursday Bukhari termed the news as extremely unfortunate, saying that such attacks are intended to stop the current ongoing peace process in J&K. “These reprehensible acts of violence are going to yield nothing but they only add to the sufferings of the people. Nothing can justify the cold blooded innocent killing of a political worker who was just trying to resolve the pressing issues of the people of his area,” he said. Bukhari said that his party has always reiterated that violence in any of its manifestations and motivated by any of the extremist ideologies in the world only begets violence and yields nothing positive for a human civilization.
Peoples Conference Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone in a tweet said that recent spate of attacks on mainstream leaders is worrying “Strongly condemn the killing of @Apnipartyonline leader Ghulam Hassan Lone in Kulgam. Recent spate of attacks on mainstream leaders is worrying. Violence only brings miseries to people. Such killings only create more widows and orphans. These heinous acts must cease,” Lone tweeted
Condemning killing of Gh Hassan Lone a J&K Apni Party worker in Devsar the Chairman J&K Peoples’ Democratic Front (J&K PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said that killing of any unarmed person was against the tenants of all religions. He said target killing of human beings has no place in a civilized society. PDF Chairman said in a democratic set up every citizen has a right to express his views and any problem and outstanding issue can be solved through talks and reconciliation.
