DC G’bal inspects execution of dev works

G’bal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna Wednesday conducted an extensive tour to inspect the execution of various development projects in the district.
During the visit, the DC inspected work progress on Wayil Bridge constructed over Sindh, Community centre at Manigam and development works of a park adjacent to Temple at Lar.
While inspecting the work progress on Wayil Bridge, Executive Engineer R&B briefed the DC about the design and completion of work on the bridge. He informed the DC that the two lane bridge was approved at the cost of Rs 23.79 crore funded by the World Bank.
He further informed that the span of the bridge is 110 meters and width is 10.50 meters besides, length of approach roads is 330 meters.
Keeping in view the importance of this prestigious project, the DC directed the Executive Engineer to expedite the work progress so that it gets completed within a given timeline.
Later, the DC inspected the Construction of a Community Centre at Manigam conceived primarily for community activities of Manigam, which happens to host a fairly good population.
The Executive Engineer R&B informed the DC that the estimated cost of the project is Rs. 182.11 lakh. He said that though the project was started in 2016 but due to lack of continuous funding, after the structure was raised, all work on the project was stopped.
He said that the project is finally approved for funding as a languishing work and taken up with fervor. Regarding work completion, he said about 95 percent of work stands completed and shall be completed in October this year.
Meanwhile, the DC also inspected the development work of a park adjacent to Temple at Lar which is executed by RDD under MGNREGA.
The DC reiterated that district administration is committed to ensure equitable development of the district and district administration is monitoring the execution of these works regularly to ensure their completion timely.
The DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Assistant Commissioner Development, Bilal Mukhtar, Executive Engineer R&B, Zafar Qureshi and other concerned officials.
