Though PDP during last one and a half year coalition rule under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is too infamous for drawing illusion on decisions of the central government concerning special status of Jammu & Kashmir state under article 370 constitution but party’s Vice President Sartaj Madni also maternal uncle of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that presidential assent to an anti-Kashmir resolution on Goods and Services Tax (GST) shows the honour president of India has given to the Jammu & Kashmir assembly. Madni claiming credit for the honour which according to him the President of India has shown to the state assembly on GST resolution has to first of all admit that GST resolution of the assembly is in tune with the whim and wishes of the Modi government and against wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Notably Mandi does not perhaps remember that both the central government and the parliament have never ever opposed the bills passed on its instance and instead has reject only those bills and resolutions which were passed to safeguard the special status granted to the state under article 370 of the Indian constitution. Madni himself may not be remembering but people remember it very well that he during an interview to a loca news agency last year said “ Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a statesman who has always worked over and above the lines of vote politics and always worked for benefiting future generations” and this statement of Sartaj Madni is a testimony to the fact that late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in his just one single historical decision allied with BJP for benefiting the future generations of those who stood for integration of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union of India.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and other top PDP leaders including the likes of Sartaj Madni should stop delivering sermons on safeguarding so called special status granted to the state under article 370 of Indian constitution and instead muster the courage to claim credit for GST resolution which is almost tantamount to inking the obituary of the financial autonomy.
Today Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has not only accomplished the dream of her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed but also that of Jan Sangh founder late Shayma Prasad Mukhterjee who raised the slogan of “ Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Samvidhan (One assembly, one flag and one constitution)” as Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley says “ Congratulations to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for integrating economically Jammu & Kashmir with India”. History is a witness to the fact that late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s accord with the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi in the year 1975 was almost tantamount to political integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India and now Mehbooba government’s GST resolution by extending article 101 constitution of the state is tantamount to economic integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India. Had Delhi intents of showing honour to the wishes of the people constituting assembly, then it would have also shown respect to autonomy resolution passed by this very assembly. So Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and other top PDP leaders including the likes of Sartaj Madni should stop delivering sermons on safeguarding so called special status granted to the state under article 370 of Indian constitution and instead muster the courage to claim credit for GST resolution which is almost tantamount to inking the obituary of the financial autonomy.
