Srinagar: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday organised a mega event “Run for Polythene Free Srinagar” an endeavor to create awareness about the menace of Polthene use.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the run from Ghana Ghar Lal chowk. Mayor Srinagar Mr Junaid Azim Mattu along with Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Ahmed Qadri and Corporators on the occasion welcomed LG.
Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Dheeraj Gupta , Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole, DC Srinagar Aijaz Assad, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Athar Amir ,IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, all senior Officers of Corporation and other officials were present on the occasion.
The run in which students from Kothi Bagh school, Kashmir Harvard, Tyndale Biscoe, Luminous candle, Candid school and other schools and other schools and colleges, people from all walks of life including Doctors, Engineers, Buissness class voulantarily participated in the run culminated at Zabarwan Park Boulevard. During the event many programs including musical events, Demonstrations from Muzafar Taekondo group and Lee Karatey group were performed which was followed by award distribution and certificate of appreciation presented by Mayor SMC Mr Mattu, Deputy Mayor and Commissioner SMC. Many NGO’s including White Globe, Ahsaan Foundation, Peoples Development Trust, JK Eco watch, New Kashmir Women and Child welfare society; Saaf group were actively involved in collaboration with SMC.
