Shopian: A special sanitation drive conducted by District Administration Shopian under Swachhta Pakhwada was Friday kick started by Deputy Commissioner, Shopian,Sachin Kumar Vaishya in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian,Amrit Paul Singh at Shopian.
The rally headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani alongwith Tehsildar Shopian, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian,Chief Education Officer, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, District Information Officer, Municipal Councilors, Civil and Police officers passed through various Bazars of Shopian with an aim to keep the environment neat and clean.
The theme of the drive was “Plastic Free Shopian” by ensuring complete ban on polythene and single use plastic in the district being celebrated upto 15th August under which a host of cleanliness activities are being organised to promote cleanliness across all vulnerable locations in the district, dedicated to specific areas viz. premises, depots, residential colonies, site offices and construction sites etc. for carrying out these cleaning and sanitation activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner focused on “Hygiene and Sanitation” particularly keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic and to reinforce the message of cleanliness amongst the public and also to avoid usage of polythene. He said that the drive was also taken for removal of debris, damaged items etc. from the areas.
ADC added that these steps will help in further improving the travel experience for its commuters and encourage everyone to keep their premises clean and well maintained in the true spirit of the ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ of the Government.
During the drive,Covid-19 SOPs were properly and completely maintained and all the participants had adopted the guidelines in letter and spirit.
Safaie Karamcharies were appreciated for working with added dedication, zest and zeal and maintaining cleanliness in and around the whole town.
