Bandipora: The Bandipora District Administration on Wednesday organised several rallies across the district to create awareness about the importance of taking precautionary measures against COVID-19.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad flagged off the main Covid Awareness Rally at Mini Secretariat Bandipora that was attended by school children, CC Cadets, SDRF Volunteers and sports persons under proper covid guidelines. The students were carrying placards with slogans inscribed on it asking people to take precautionary measures to fight the pandemic.
The rally was aimed to spread awareness about the Covid management and adherence to appropriate behavior among the masses. The rally passed through the different localities and stressed on the importance of wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and keeping hands sanitized.
Enroute the participants also distributed masks among the people who were not wearing masks and appealed them to wear masks in public places.
Dr Owais also flagged off an Awareness Van of Municipal Council Bandipora that shall announce adherence to COVID Appropriate Behavior in different markets of the Bandipora.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Bandipora said the Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further. He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the controlled rooms so that action can be taken against violators.
Similar rallies were held across the district at block level. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad and SDM Gurez Dr Mudasir also flagged off rallies at their respective sub-divisional headquarters.
