DC B’pora visits flash flood affected village in the distt

Bandipora: In order to assess the ground situation in the aftermath of the damages caused by flash floods in Aloosa village of Bandipora, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad visited Aloosa and adjoining village. The DC during the visit was accompanied by DDC members, officers of R&B, Irrigation and Flood Control.
On the occasion, Dr Owais assessed the damages caused to property and agriculture land besides inspecting the restoration works in Chechinar, Ketsun, Halmatpora and Binlipora. He directed the officers to deploy more machinery if required to restore the flow of water in the stream. He also stressed on utilization of funds by Panchayat Raj Institutions for flood restoration works including strengthening of embankments.
Dr Owais interacted with the people in these habitations who apprised the him about the problems being faced by them. He assured them that the district administration will take every possible measure to ensure their greviances are redressed. The DC appealed to the people of Bandipora to stay cautious and not to venture out near water bodies in view of the sporadic rains in the district. He said there has been incessant rains in the district that has lead to increase in water level of rivers and streams besides leading to flash floods in some areas and hence there is a need to be alert to avoid untoward incidents.
The DC said that the district administration is fully prepared to deal with any situation and all the ground level teams of SDRF, Police, Revenue and Irrigation and Flood Control besides volunteers are continuously monitoring the situation. He said the district administration is regularly reviewing the Flood Mitigation arrangements and all requisite arrangements are in place. He said a district level Control is also functional round the clock and the numbers have already been notified so that people can contact on the numbers in case of any emergency.
Meanwhile, people have been asked to contact the District Control Room on the following numbers, for any help/emergency response: 7006526985, 7006328689, 7006378557 in case they need any assistance. The DC directed the officers to remain alert during this phase of rainy weather besides promptly respond to public grievances and distress calls.
