DC Kupwara visits Machill, reviews dev profile

Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din Tuesday said that development of border areas like Machill is priority of the Government and District Administration Kupwara is committed to fulfill the development requirements of the people of Machill area, situated near LoC.
The DC was addressing a meeting at Mini Secretariat Machill here Tuesday, convened to review the developmental profile of the area.
DDC member Kalaroos, Ghulam Mustafa Deedad; BDC Chairperson, Machill, Ghulam Rasool; Officers of the District Administration and PRIs attended the meeting.
The DC stressed upon the officers to work with added dedication and complete the on-going works within the targeted period keeping in view the limited working season due to weather vagaries in the area.
The PRIs and the public, on the occasion demanded various amenities including establishment of J&K Bank branch and installation of ATM in Machill, augmentation of water supply and electricity, up-gradation of PHC Dudi, filling up of vacant posts in various departments including Health and Education, handing over of community bunkers, construction of road and various other issues.
The DC reviewed the functioning of each department one by one including Education, Revenue, Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development, Health, PDD and telecommunication and gave on-spot directions to the officers for timely redressal of the grievances.
Imam directed the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti to speed up the pace of augmentation of water supply schemes in the area and was informed that the Jal Shakti department is upgrading the water supply system in the area for which a Rs.1 crore scheme is in progress.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to make all the five towers functional to further improve the telecommunication facilities in the area.
Reviewing the progress of the Education department, the DC directed for holding of community classes to benefit the student community.
Reviewing the Animal & Sheep Husbandry departments, the DC asked the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to constitute a team for screening the rise in Foot & Mouth disease in the area.
It was informed that the Sheep Extension Centre has been completed and will be handed over to the department for public use.
The DC also directed engineers of R&B to submit DPRs for construction of roads from Hardoring to Ring Balla and Upper Poshwari.
Earlier, the DDC member and BDC chairperson also spoke and projected the issues confronting the local people of the area especially during winter season.
Various public deputations met the DC and apprised him about their developmental issues. The DC heard them patiently and issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for timely redressal of the issues raised by the people.
