Srinagar: The Legal Metrology Department Kashmir Thursday organised a seminar cum awareness programme for Importers/ Departmental Stores across Kashmir Valley regarding various provisions of Legal Metrology Act-2009/ Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules- 2011.
The main function was held at Legal Metrology Office Complex Bemina Srinagar under the chairmanship of Majid K. A. Drabu, Controller Legal Metrology J&K.
Proprietors/Managers of leading departmental stores and importers of district Srinagar were present during the event.
The participants were apprised of various provisions of Legal Metrology laws/ rules which provide that every package must bear declarations like MRP (inclusive of all taxes), date of packing, net weight, customer care No./ email id, country of origin, name and address of manufacturer & importer. No package shall be sold to a customer in the absence of these mandatory declarations.
The session concluded with various queries and doubts raised by various participants which were alleviated then and there.
The chair passed directions for strict compliance of act and rules besides giving assurance to the participants that their genuine concerns shall be addressed.
