Udhampur: Mandeep Singh, a student of 10th class, hailing from remote village Amroh of Udhampur district has proven that determination and hard work is key to success against all challenges and difficulties.
Despite facing lot of difficulties, Mandeep, student of Government High School, Amroh, has secured 98.6% marks in recently declared results of 10th class examination of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education.
Mandeep, who lives in remote Amroh village had to cross high terrains of forests and Nallahs by foot everyday to reach school. “I used to walk more than 3Kms everyday to reach school and I was always determined to go to school and get proper education and guidance”, Mandeep says.
Despite facing regular difficulties of power outages and other things, Mandeep never got tired and remained commited to his studies. “I used to study in candle light as there is no regular electricity in our area. I never made this as an excuse to not study during night hours”, Mandeep said.
While sharing his experience related to study Mandeep said that during the lock down his elder brother helped him in his studies. “We belong to a very poor family having no mobile phone, Internet services, laptop and I studied from books throughout the year with rhe help of my elder brother “, Mandeep Singh says.
In his message to fellow students, Mandeep advises them to read news papers and general knowledge books in addition to their syllabus books highlighting that hard work is the key of success.
Mandeep’s father, Sham Singh, a farmer by profession said that the achievement of his son is an example of hardwork and dedication. “My son has proven that hardwork is key to success and has secured top position in class 10th Board exams and set an example of hard work in district”, an elated Sham Singh says. He adds that besides his studies my son also helped me in daily household and farming works.
Sham Singh further says that he himself studied for few years in school but he always gave importance to the studies of his children and regularly checks on their progress. He added that they belong to backward area and they have to face many hardships but his son braved all odds to achieve this success. He thanked the school Administration and credited School teachers for his achievement.
For this achievement, Mandeep gave credit to his parents and especially elder brother namely Shiv Dev Singh who supported him for his studies during the whole academic year. Various prominent figures from all walks of life visited his residence and congratulated him for his academic excellence in Board exams.
