Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad Thursday said that the Covid-19 situation is improving gradually with a steep decrease in positive cases and improvement in recovery rate during the past few weeks.
While briefing media about the current covid scenario in the district, Dr Owais said that for the first time from past few months the total number of active cases has gone below 100.
Giving details, he said there 82 active positive cases in the district out of which only six are on oxygen support system while rest of the patients are having mild symptoms or no symptoms and have been quarantined at home.
Dr Owais Ahmad informed that recovery rate went further up to about 98 percent while positivity rate remained 0.6 percent during this period.
Regarding vaccination, the DC said the target has been achieved with regard to the vaccination of the target age group of 45 plus.
He said more than 17000 doses have been given so far to the 18-45 year old age group adding that efforts are being intensified to achieve cent percent inoculation of the said population in coming weeks.
Under the supervision of senior officers, door to door vaccination drives are being carried out to inoculate the remaining 18-45 years old population besides aggressive sampling.
Dr. Owais appealed to the eligible people to get vaccinated forthwith so that more vaccinations in a shorter span of time are done which will translate into significant Herd Immunity sooner.
Hailing efforts of line departments and all stakeholders for bringing the situation under control, the DC impressed upon them to remain focussed and committed so as to consolidate the results.
The DC said the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further.
He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the controlled rooms so that action can be taken against violators.
