Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Thursday said that the overall COVID Scenario has significantly improved over the last few weeks with only a few number of Covid positive cases reported in the district.
The DC said this while interacting with media persons during a weekly press briefing held at Mini Secretariat Arhama here.
He credited the people of Shopian on the declining trend in positive cases in the district saying that it was only possible after the locals adhered to Covid-19 related SOPs, guidelines religiously to save the precious lives.
Referring to the continuous declining trend of COVID positive cases as good preparatory time for speeding up Vaccination efforts in the district, the DC said that health teams with the active participation of the stakeholders are reaching out at the door steps to the remote areas to cover the vaccination process and to make it a great success in the district.
Understanding the importance of Vaccination and terming it as a potent tool in the fight against Covid-19, the DC appealed to the people to cooperate with the District Administration and also visit nearest Vaccination centres and get vaccinated in the shortest possible time.
He further stated that inoculation drives are being intensified for the 18-44 years category in the last few days and 1500 to 1800 people are being vaccinated on a daily basis by the teams constituted for the purpose to get the required target done well before the fixed time.
The DC in his address also laid thrust on maintaining COVID Appropriate Behavior by all citizens. He informed that Enforcement teams are doing rounds in the markets to ensure compliance of Covid-19 protocols and guidelines issued by the Administration from time to time.
He once again appealed to people to strictly follow the guidelines, wear masks properly and wash your hands to avoid the spread of coronavirus in the district.
