Discussing politics without a blueprint for resolution of contentious issues has become a new norm of politics both within and outside Jammu & Kashmir amid the fear of arrival of third deadly wave of Covid-19 pandemic but people within and outside Jammu & Kashmir don’t like it given the fact that politician don’t roll our plans for resolution of contentious issues. In these days of pandemic people want politicians running the affairs of the government at the centre and in states and union territories to discuss health and economy for the purposes of health safety and livelihood but contrary to the expectations of people they discuss politics for the purposes of their own political aspirations but not the aspirations of the people. Had politicians been concerned about the people’s aspirations more than their own aspiration they won’t have preferred to go slow in discussions on farm bills , Citizenship Amendment Act (CCA) and future of Jammu & Kashmir after it’s bifurcation into two union territories and withdrawal of special status to erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir. The government takes decisions which it wants to take even during the present days of pandemic but surprisingly it still holds discussions on the decisions which it has already implemented in letter and spirit just to waste it’s own time and those of the political leaders sitting in the opposition. Though fight against pandemic is not heading to any dead end and instead the fear of arrival of a third deadly wave is panicking the hapless populations in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country but politicians continue to discuss politics without a proper blue print for resolution of political conflicts in place. The people in Jammu & Kashmir and other states and union territories of the country don’t like the political discussion on contentious political issues to continue without any road map and timeline for their resolutions. As the Prime Minister himself, Chief Ministers of several states and Jammu & Kashmir Lt Governor have in their recent statements time and again reiterated that lives matter the most, the focus has to be on vaccination, covid containment measures and some rehabilitation package for the people who have lost their jobs due to breakdown of trading and business activities across the country.
Not hundreds and thousands but lakhs of people have lost their jobs due to collapse of trading and business operation across the county but neither people in government nor leaders in opposition bother to discuss the issues of livelihood of the millions of people rendered jobless during last two year’s of pandemic across the country.
Agreed government is focusing hugely on ongoing vaccination drive and implementation of covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) but neither the politicians controlling the central and state governments nor the people in opposition discuss the pressing issues concern livelihood of people rendered jobless by the collapse of trading and business operations across the country. Not hundreds and thousands but lakhs of people have lost their jobs due to collapse of trading and business operation across the county but neither people in government nor leaders in opposition bother to discuss the issues of livelihood of the millions of people rendered jobless during last two year’s of pandemic across the country.
