DC B’la reviews progress of COVID-19 vaccination campaign

Baramulla: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar Saturday chaired a meeting with concerned officers to take stock of the progress of COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the district. The meeting also discussed various means and measures for achieving the 100 percent target in the vaccination campaign.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held during which the DC emphasized exploring different means and measures for carrying out the campaign successfully. He also exhorted to eliminate the apprehensions and misconceptions adding that more needs to be done in order to disseminate right information among the masses.
The DC further emphasized upon the officers to work in coordination and synergy for achieving the desired results. He appreciated the role of different stakeholders more especially frontline workers for carrying out the vaccination process smoothly. He further directed to launch a vibrant sensitisation campaign at block and at other levels and underlined the need of utilizing the services of PRIs in this regard.
Meanwhile, DC urged upon the people to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and avoid large gatherings besides maintaining social distancing. He said that by adopting these advisories, we will be able to fully ease the restrictions which are in place during weekends for averting exigencies.
It was informed that about 2.41 lakh beneficiaries out of the target of 2.71 lakh beneficiaries falling in the age bar of 45+, have been vaccinated which constitutes about 89 percent. It was further informed that the positivity rate has dropped to mere 1.8 percent whereas the recovery rate jumped to over 98 percent. The DC complimented the vaccinators and emphasized to achieve the remaining target within 3 days positively.
Meeting was attended by ADC Baramulla Mohammad Ahsan Mir, SDM Gulmarg Sameer Jan, SDM Pattan Syed Faheem, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr. SM Andrabi, Dy CMO Dr Jozy Bashir, Tehsildars, DSP HQ’s Sopore , Baramulla, BMOs, officers of health and other concerned departments among other functionaries.
