Reasi : Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Friday said that police are not fighting a “one-sided” war against militancy in Jammu & Kashmir and that when militants are being killed they will also do some “misadventure” to show their presence. He, was quick to add that “we have reached a stage where more efforts are needed to end militancy in J&K.”
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a pass-out-cum attestation parade at Reasi district of Jammu, DGP Singh while replying to a query said that presence of over 200 militants in J&K means that while police is killing militants on one hand, on the other, they are also indulging in doing some misadventure.
“It’s not that police is fighting one-sided war against militancy in J&K. While we keep on killing militants, we should not expect that they won’t do anything,” he said.
Earlier, addressing the new cadets, the DGP said: “We have reached a stage where some more efforts are needed to end the militancy in J&K completely and restore durable peace for people of J&K. The passing out parade was held for 604 recruit constables who completed their basic training.
In a statement issued here, the police spokesman said: “At the very outset, the DGP J&K congratulated the pass outs for completing the basic training and welcomed them in the JK Police Pariwar. He said that the passouts had the experience of field work even before completing their training as during the period their training was put on hold due to the COVID-19, they were deployed for enforcing lock down and other related tasks.”
The DGP as per the spokesman said that during the training “our focus was on to enable the trainees to face any kind of challenge not only physically but mentally too and make them understand their responsibilities towards the service of the people and for the country.”
“The DGP expressed confidence that the recruits would live up to the expectations of the nation. He impressed upon them to remember the oath throughout the service and work with honesty and dedication to come up to the expectations of people and the police organization adding that it will add more glory to the organization,” the statement said. “The DGP said that it is a memorable day for all pass outs to get into the service after completing hard days of training. He lauded the efforts put in by Principal STC Anil Katoch and his team of dedicated instructors/staff for moulding and shaping the passing out trainees.”
