The ADC stressed upon all the stakeholders to be proactive in formulating a comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan on priority basis as per the guidelines of State Road Safety Action Plan.
He stressed on the Executive Traffic Police and PWD-MVD to set up an accident recording system, and an agency to conduct Accident Investigation and Research on Road Safety issues.
PWD and BRO were directed to improve roads marking and signage to eliminate high risk stretches-black spots, improvement of junctions on all cross-roads, and improve road lighting near habitations. Further PWD, Municipal Committees and other urban local bodies were instructed to remove dangerous road side objects and hoarding alongside roads that hinder smooth traffic.

ADC Zahoor Ahmad Mir also stressed for identifying black spots, initiating remedial measures, installation of signages and painting of roads at appropriate spots and generation of awareness for making roads safer in the district.
The meeting among others was attended by ARTO Bandipora Mohammad Suhaib, DYSP Bandipora Dr Idrees Ahmad, CEO Municipal Council Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin, officers of R&B and other senior officers of the district.
