Srinagar/ June,23 : Jammu & Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on Wednesday held a sit in protest in press enclave Srinagar to press for regularisation of 61000 daily wagers working in different departments in Jammu and Kashmir. Led by President EJAC Mohd Rafique Rather scores of EJAC leaders assembled at pess enclave Srinagar with pla cards in their hands demanding regularisation of some 61000 daily wagers working in different departments of Jammu and Kashmir and implementation of minimum wages act till their regularisation.
Talking to reporters President EJAC Mohd Rafique Rather said 61000 daily wagers, adhoc, consolidated, HDF, land donors, academic arrangements, contingent paid employees and others are suffering for their regularisation and government is not taking this human issue seriously. He said that its unfortunate that respective governments have conceded the demands of regularisation calling it justified but nothing concrete has come out so for . Rather also said that these helpless and hapless employees have been left to starvation and scores of their colleagues  have lost their lives on duty and some of them have lost vital organs of their bodies and their is not departmental help neither for those dead nor for those left handicapped for ever. president EJAC said that these poor employees are not paid their meager wages in time which has put their families in miserable conditions and they are not able to feed their families properly.
Rather expressed surprise that a big chunk of employees who perform their duties round the clock are being ignored and not treated like humans which has put a question mark on welfare measures of government being propagated day in and day out and added that miserable plight of these employees should have been the priority of the government which unfortunately is not.
Rafique Rather said that EJAC had pinned its hopes in LG administration to address the legitimate and justified demands if adhoc employees  but lamented that in spite of several protests, representations and strikes there seems no headway with the result we are left with no option but to protest on roads to get this human issue resolved. On the occasion Sajad Ahmad Paray President daily wagers united forum who was part of the protest was assured whole hearted support by EJAC President and other leadership till demands are addressed.
Urging  administration to Come to the rescue of these helpless poor employees, Rather expressed hope that LG Manoj Sinha and new Chief Secretary A.K. Mehta will take up this geniune, justified and already  acceded demands of Daily wagers and other daily rated workers with Union government for its one time solution to save future of 61000 families dependent on these employees.
