DC Shopian briefs Media about current Covid-19 scenario in the distt

Shopian:The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Thurday revealed that district administration in collaboration with the Health department and other line departments has kick-started the Vaccination drive for under 18-44 age group in the district.
The DC said that the vaccination drive was started two days before at all designated vaccination points established in the district. He appealed to the masses particularly the age appropriate persons who are most vulnerable to the Covid infection to take vaccines on priority basis to effectively contain the spread of virus.
He urged the people to wear face masks and maintain physical distance besides taking Covid vaccination doses at their nearest CVC.
While briefing the media, the DC lauded the citizens of the district for strict adherence of Covid-19 SOPs, guidelines which led to the decline in Covid positive cases. He again appealed to the masses to strictly follow all the SOPs despite relaxation in lockdown.
He asked the people to avoid unnecessary outings, gatherings and get themselves vaccinated so that herd immunity is achieved and the deadly disease gets eradicated.
The DC informed that till date 5526 positive cases have been reported in the district, out of which 5352 have recovered and only 115 are still active positive. He said the recovery rate has increased to 96.85 percent with 5352 recoveries so far and 59 deaths.
He informed that the recovery rate has shot up and the positivity rate has flattened this week to 1.5 percent.
