Anantnag:The Chairperson, District Development Council Anantnag, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi Thurday said that the council is working in close coordination with the district administration to usher in a new era of public welfare and holistic development in the district.
The chairperson said this on the conclusion of first round of meetings with the district and sectoral officers of various departments at Dak Bangalow Khanabal here.
The proceedings ran for three consecutive days and the scenario of developmental projects/works besides the public welfare and social security schemes in the district was reviewed in threadbare.
Vice Chairperson, Javaid Ahmad, DDC members and Chairpersons of Block Development Councils besides Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Bashir Ahmad and other district and sectoral officers also participated.
In Thurday’s meeting, the status of ongoing works and schemes of RDD, Sericulture, Social Welfare, JK Bank, Handicrafts & Handloom, Floriculture and other departments was taken.
Emphasis was laid on removal of bottlenecks (if any) and smooth and timely completion of all projects so that their benefits accrue to the public. “Wherever intervention of the DDC is required in taking up matters with higher authorities, departments should bring it to our notice,” DDC Chairperson said.
All Departments were asked to share the list of ongoing and upcoming projects to be taken up during the FY 2021-22 and also monthwise progress reports with the DDC. It was also reiterated that DDC members and other public representatives should be taken on board during the planning and implementation phase of projects for better outcomes.
To reach out to the people and to generate awareness about the various State and Central Sector schemes especially those having potential to generate employment opportunities for the youth like Sericulture Industries, ITI etc, the concerned departments were asked to hold awareness camps in every block on routine basis.
Focus was laid on priortisation of employment generation schemes for youth besides facilitating them to establish income generating units.
Similarly, it was also agreed upon that massive awareness regarding social sector and empowerment schemes for women, elderly, differently abled, orphan children, girl child, SC, ST & OBCs and other vulnerable sections should be generated among the masses. It was further decided that regular camps should be organised across all blocks besides the field staff should be mobilised and energised so as to cover all the deserving persons.
Underscoring the need to improve/enhance aesthetic value of public offices, the floriculture department was urged to take necessary beautification steps where ever possible to ensure the same.
The DDC Chairperson thanked the officers and the administration for cooperating with the PRI members and also pledged full support for smooth implementation of development and welfare schemes in the district.
Calling PRI members as eyes and ears of administration, ADDC impressed upon them to act as a liasion between people and the district administration to achieve holistic human and physical development in the district.
