Srinagar: Chairperson State Social Welfare Board, Dr. Nirmal Gupta, Monday visited Shafaqat Rehabilitation Centre of Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) at Bemina Srinagar.
Appreciating the efforts of the VMS society, Dr. Gupta highlighted role of VMS in providing a new lease of life to disabled people. She lauded the society for its efforts to empower physically challenged people across the state.
She said persons with disabilities often face barrier at societal level. She said as such Board is committed to facilitate their involvement in building a progressive society.
Appreciating the role of VMS founder Dr. Mohd Maqbool Mir she said the team work rendered by the Shafaqat Rehabilitation Centre is commendable and efforts should be made for empowering weaker and vulnerable sections of the society.
