J&K Students Association thanks EAM J&K LG for facilitating the Kashmiri Students to Bangladesh

Srinagar/June,14 : J&K Students Association here today expressed gratitude to External Affairs Minister
S. Jaishankar,  J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and CEO Youth Mission  Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for their personal intervention and efforts in resolving issue of Kashmiri Medical students studying in Bangladesh.
           In a statement issued here on  Sunday spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami said that association appreciated prompt and quick response from External Affairs Ministry and J&K Lieutenant Governor and CEO Mission Youth Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, adding that they have paid its valuable attention towards the Kashmiri students in Coordinating and facilitating them back to Bangladesh.  He said Association took the matter with External Affairs Ministry and J&K Govt in this regard. The J&K Govt immediately intervened in it and resolved the matter at the earliest possible time. We expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for considering students’ demand as first priority and taking this to Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Ministry and coordinating with them in getting Visa’s of 25 Kashmiri Students on priority basis.
Khuehami said, all students who were stuck in Kashmir due to Covid-19 lockdown were facilitated to Bangladesh through Agartala border in two batches. They have reached Bangladesh to take their medical exams in colleges affiliated to the University of Dhaka. They have to go for 14 days mandatory Quaratine now, he added.
Vice President of Association, Junaid Rather said, the decision is totally in favour of students. In the tough times, this decision is a welcome and appreciable step. This will free students from anxiety depression and rejoice parents. The MBBS students career was at stake as their exam was on cards. However, with the intervention of official back home they sorted the issue and their travel was facilitated back to bangladesh which brought a sigh of relief.
Junaid said, Kashmiri students pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh were in distress amid the major spike in the deadly virus. Amid restrictions in the country fearing of the contract of the virus, students were worried. He said that, the students had come home and were asked to return Bangladesh for exams which were scheduled from 30th May. We had demanded to authorities for either to facilitate students or postpone exams and finally travel was made possible, he added.
