Abdullahs’, Mehbooba, Congress, PC, Altaf, Hakeem, Tarigami condemn Sopore killings

Srinagar: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Party’s Vice President Omar Abdullah, Peoples’ Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) , J&K Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, J&K Peoples Conference, Chairman Peoples’ Democratic Front Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen and CPI (M) Secretary M Y Tarigami have in their separate statements condemned killing of two policemen and two civilians in a militant attack at Sopore.
National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq and Vice Omar Abdullah expressed profound grief and anguish over the killing of two cops and three civilians in a firing incident that took place in Sopore town of Baramulla District on Saturday.While condemning the attack, party vice president Omar Abdullah in a statement issued on Saturday said such attacks should be condemned without any reservation.“The terrible news coming from Baramulla about the killing of two Cops and three civilians is heart wrenching. I mince no words in my condemnation of the outrageous bloodshed. The violence in all its forms and manifestations constitutes the most serious threat to the dignity of human life and universal peace. I express my deepest sympathies with the families of the victims and pray for peace to the ones who lost their lives in the reprehensible act,” he said.
President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti condemned the killings and said that guns cannot solve the issue of Kashmir. She said the only dialogue can resolve the issues.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) strongly condemned the Sopore militant attack, describing it as cowardice and mindless. The party also expressed anguish over the loss of precious lives and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of slain cops and civilians. JKPCC has expressed anguish over the loss of precious lives and termed the attack as a mindless and shameful act committed by the militants. JKPCC expressed grave concern over the regular militant attack on cops and other security forces and blamed the government for failing to contain the situation. JKPCC conveyed its heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to slain cops and civilians. JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Senior Congress leaders and former minister Taj Mohi U Din, PCC Vice President Haji Abdul Rashid Dar have strongly condemned the Sopore attack and blamed the failures of the Govt to deal with the situation.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) condemned Sopore violence and loss of precious human lives, terming such an action ruthlessly detrimental for peace and tranquility for Jammu and Kashmir.The spokesman said that the vicious cycle of violence has pushed Kashmir to the precipice of a disaster and has been for decades wreaking havoc on people’s lives, orphaning children, maiming innocents and making peace alien to this land.He added that present time in Kashmir is of tough ordeals and strenuous efforts are needed to get the people out of the crises and stop the vicious cycle of violence without delay. Expressing sympathies with the families of those who were killed in the incident, the spokesman also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, who are undergoing treatment at present.
In a similar statement issued here on Saturday the President Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party Syed Mohammad Altaf , Bukhari termed the attack most gruesome and heart wrenching. “Violence has never been a solution but a huge impediment in peace and progress of any society. Extremist forces are only adding to the sufferings of people. Regardless of any political, ideological or religious motivations—violence in any of its manifestations is unacceptable,” Bukhari added. He said that the senseless violence has ravaged all the sections of the society in Jammu and Kashmir inflicting a heavy toll on precious human lives. “Not only a generation of humans has been lost to this barbaric mode of communication but forces inimical to peace have also wrecked havoc to the socio-economic conditions of the people during the last over three decades,” he observed. While extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Bukhari prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and courage to their families to bear the irretrievable loss. “Apni Party stands in solidarity with the families of slain cops and civilians in this hard and pressing time. We also wish speedy recovery of the injured and urge the government to facilitate their best treatment available at an earliest,” Bukhari remarked.
Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen also expressed shock and sorrow over the continued blood shed of precious humane lives whether of a civilian or police cops in different militancy related incidents in various areas of Kashmir. He said killing of two civillians and two policemen besids injuries to many others in an exchange of fire incident in Arampora Sopore was was yet another shocker for the peace loving people. In a statement issued on Saturday Hakeem while expressing his grief over the killing of innocent human lives in exchange of fire between gunmen and security forces in Sopore, said that violence has brought nothing except death and destruction in the turmoil hit Kashmir. “ Violence has only increased the number of graveyards , orphans, widows and destitute in Kashmir during last three decades, Hakeem maintained while seeking an end to aimless killings. He said enough blood has flown down the Jehlum adding that the mother Kashmir was craves for an immediate end to violence and return of peace . He said enough is enough, violence should be stopped now to give peace a chance. Saying that violence was no solution to any problem , Hakeem urged the Center to initiate result oriented measures to solve the kashmir problem amicably through dialogue , with all the genuine stake holders , to bring permanent peace in the region. While denouncing violence in it’s any manifestation , PDF Chairman said that human lives are very precious gift of nature which should , in no way become the fodder of a gun. He urged the need for making security forces more accountable and answerable during various anti militancy operations to check collateral damage to life and property of innocent civilians. Hakeem expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the souls of all those killed in the gruesome incident.
Condemning the Sopore attack, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said violence in any form is not in the interest of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Such incidents leave a question before everybody that for how long the blood of people will continue to flow in Kashmir? Violence and killings can never be a solution to any problem. Violence in any form is highly condemnable and must come to an immediate end,” Tarigami said.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, he urged the authorities to ensure that proper treatment is made available to the injured persons in the incident.
