Div Com(J) directs JPDCL to put power curtailment schedules in public domain

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer has directed the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) to work out power curtailment rosters/ schedules for every station, areas and put the same in public domain by giving it wide publicity. Strict cognisance has been taken of unscheduled power cuts being reported from certain areas.
The Div Com issued these directions while chairing a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Engineers of JPDCL convened to review the power supply scenario in Jammu division in the ongoing summer season.
He strongly directed the JPDCL to make roasters of power curtailments and publicize the same through print, electronic and social media so that people can know about the curtailment timing.
He also directed the Deputy Commissioners to constitute sub division level committees headed by concerned Sub Divisional Magistrate and comprising Engineers of JPDCL, Public representatives and other concerned who shall regularly check and ensure the curtailments are happening according to the notified roster and the roster is being followed on ground, avoiding unscheduled curtailments.
He also directed the concerned to establish control rooms at sub divisional levels and notify the helpline numbers for listening to public issues regarding the power supply. He also instructed them to ensure quick action on every distress call.
He directed the Executive Engineers and Superintendent Engineers to ensure that immediate action was taken to address each complaint received in the control room. The Div Com asked the DCs to periodically check the action taken on the complaints being received at the control rooms.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner took district wise review of power-supply scenario and inquired about the hours of power supply, curtailment in rural and urban areas of the districts, available buffer stock of transformers, functioning of workshops, timelines for replacement of damaged transformers, requirements and other related issues.
The Div Com directed the JPDCL to ensure the replacement of outage/ damaged transformers in stipulated time of 8 hour for urban and 48 hour for rural areas to avoid inconvenience to the public.
He also instructed the Chief Engineer to rationalize the buffer stock of required transformers in all the districts to reduce the replacement time.
The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed progress on the projects/ works being executed under centrally sponsored schemes for augmentation of power infrastructure. He directed the chief engineers of concerned wings to expedite the pace of work and ensure monitoring of up gradation works of Grid Station, strengthening of distribution and transmission lines etc. to ensure their completion within stipulated time frame.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Jammu, Chief Engineer,(Distribution) JKPDCL, Chief Engineer, (Projects) JKPDCL, Chief Engineer, JKPTCL and other concerned, while Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along with Executive Engineers of JPDCL attended the meeting through video conferencing.
