Srinagar: The Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the status of rural roads being built under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram SadakYojana’ (PMGSY) and asked the Public Works Department to complete 4,800 km of road during this fiscal year.
Administrative Secretaries of the departments of Public Works (R&B), Forest, Ecology & Environment, besides the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest participated in the meeting.
The Chief Secretary reviewed various issues impeding the construction of PMGSY roads including forest clearances, land acquisition, quality standards, and utility shifting. He directed the Forest Department to expedite the grant of requisite clearances and ensure the issuance of NOCs by 31st July 2021.
He asked the Principal Secretary, PWD to ensure timely completion of works under various projects in adherence to the stipulated timeline of PMGSY phase-I & II, which will end on 31st March 2022.
